Alcohol Believed to be Factor in Single Vehicle Crash
Alcohol is believed to be a factor in a single vehicle crash Saturday morning. Monroe County Sheriff Scott Perkins said officials received a call about a crash with damage to the guardrail on Highway 33 in the Town of Sheldon. When officers arrived, they found that the guard rail had been damaged extensively and the driver had fled the scene in the vehicle. Through an investigation, officers were able to locate the driver, 19-year-old Thomas Ray Peterson of rural Ontario, and the truck he had been driving. Peterson told officers that he fell asleep and hit the guard rail. Peterson was not injured in the crash. The crash remains under investigation by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
