New Lisbon School Board Approves Preliminary Budget for 2017-18 School Year

The New Lisbon School Board approved their preliminary budget for the 2017-18 school year at their monthly meeting on Monday night. the decrease in the revenue limit and state aid this year is mostly due to declining number of students living in the school district. Superintendent Dennis Birr said this is just the best guess they have since the state budget hasn’t been passed. With a relatively flat equalized property value, right now, the mill rate is projected to be $10.19, a 20 cent drop from last year’s mill rate with the proposed budget.

The board also adopted its academic standards for the 2017-18 school year. The board adopted Common Core standards for math, reading and language arts as well as the Wisconsin Academic Standards for all other subjects. Birr said it’s an annual thing the district has to do.

Birr also went over some changes and additions to the district’s 20/20 Vision with the board.
