>>2nd Door County Observation Tower To Be Closed
(Sturgeon Bay, WI) — It’s becoming harder to enjoy those spectacular Door County views after a Department of Natural Resources decision to close the observation tower at Potawatomi State Park. Thousands of visitors have used the tower for panoramic views of Sawyer Harbor, Green Bay, and Sturgeon Bay. The D-N-R says the 75-foot tall tower is unsafe due to significant wood decay. Just two years ago the Eagle Tower at Peninsula State Park was shut down. The state plans to build a new tower there, but there are no plans to replace the one at Potawatomi State Park. People had been climbing it for 86 years.

>>Polling Location Evacuated Due To Suspicious Package
(Milwaukee, WI) — A person who left a briefcase full of clothes by a vending machine Tuesday caused an evacuation at a Milwaukee polling location. A bomb-sniffing dog from Mitchell International Airport was called to confirm there were no explosives in that briefcase. The location at Pulaski Pool was emptied for about 45 minutes. Election officials say the ballots, voting machines, and poll booths were in a secure location during the evacuation so they were safe from tampering. Two voters had to be turned away while the briefcase was examined.
>>No Evidence Of Tampering On Food From New London Parade
(New London, WI) — Nobody knows what caused the numbness or rash some people reported after eating candy handed out at the St. Patrick’s Day parade in New London. Authorities report they received 10 complaints but testing at the Wisconsin Crime Laboratory turned up no evidence and investigators say they can’t prove a crime was committed. They weren’t able to find any evidence of tampering. New London police say they don’t know what caused the symptoms. There have been no additional complaints.
>>53-Year-Old Man Arrested For Stabbing Victim During Road Rage Incident
(Kenosha, WI) — A 21-year-old man stabbed during a road rage incident in Kenosha is said to be in stable condition after surgery. The victim was driving to get some money from an A-T-M when he got into a dispute with the 53-year-old driver of another vehicle. Police say the two men confronted each other in a convenience store parking lot and the younger man was stabbed in the stomach. Police were able to use surveillance video to track the suspect down to his home and take him into custody. He may face additional charges because police found a marijuana grow operation at his home. No names have been released.
>>Registered Sex Offender Will Be Allowed To Visit Sick Son
(Milwaukee, WI) — A Milwaukee County judge will allow a 49-year-old sex offender to have limited visits with his son. Doctors at Wisconsin Children’s Hospital say Stuart Yates’ nine-year-old son is seriously ill. The judge’s ruling limits his visits to two hours, three times a week and a court-appointed guardian will supervise. Security officers at the Milwaukee hospital escorted Yates out of the building four weeks ago after learning he was a registered sex offender. The case which resulted in his name going on the sex offender list occurred 20 years ago. His attorney says Yates did the time and has moved on.
