>>Judge Rules Prosecutors Lack Probable Cause
(Wausau, WI) — A Marathon County judge told prosecutors there wasn’t enough probable cause to move forward with two felony charges against a Wausau mother. Twenty-six-year-old Chantele O’Brien was accused of causing mental harm to a child, plus two counts of child neglect. Police found evidence of drug use when they executed a search warrant at her home. When police arrived at the door, O’Brien’s seven-year-old daughter reportedly asked if officers were there to get “all the needles,” then showed them where they were. O’Brien will still have to face the two misdemeanor neglect charges.

(Fairchild, WI) — A Fairchild man is charged with sexually assaulting two passengers he had been driving in a van for elderly and disabled people. Cory Olsen is accused of having sexual contact with a woman suffering a traumatic brain injury. The victim told police it happened about five times while she was still in the van. Investigators say evidence indicates he did the same thing with another brain-injury victim who was riding in his van. Olsen returns to court April 16th. Supervisors at Abby Vans were reportedly notified about the sexual assaults, but let Olsen continue to drive his route.

(Dallas, TX) — House Speaker Paul Ryan spoke to a group of Southwest Airlines employees about the new tax law and plans to modernize the air traffic control system. Airline employees received thousand-dollar bonuses after the announcement by President Trump that corporate income tax rates were being cut. Ryan held a town hall meeting with some of them in Dallas Monday. The tax cut is expected to save Southwest hundreds of millions of dollars. Ryan says Congress should “re-do” the Federal Aviation Administration as it is reauthorized this year. He was in Texas to raise money for House Republicans.

(Madison, WI) — Given new life by Congress, the University of Wisconsin Sea Grant Institute will fund dozens of research and education projects on the Great Lakes. Two-point-eight-million dollars will pay for the projects over the next two years. Congress restored federal funding despite a proposal by the Trump administration to eliminate the program. Projects receiving financial support include efforts to restore the Green Bay ecosystem, developing a way to forecast dangerous currents in Lake Superior and development of a phosphorus model for Lake Michigan.
>>Family Members Say Wisconsin Teen Tried To Help Parents When He Drowned
(Fort Morgan, AL) — Family members say a Wisconsin teenager was pulled under by a rip current when he tried to help his parents while swimming in the Gulf of Mexico last week. Now, the parents of 17-year-old Jevon Lemke are hoping his body can be recovered. Chris and Carrie Lemke say they were struggling off the beach at Fort Morgan when their son and several others jumped in. They were helped to safety, but he was pulled farther out and disappeared. The incident happened Sunday, March 25th. The family was forced to leave Alabama yesterday (Monday) without his body.
