>>Report:  Hundreds Of Wisconsin Bridges In “Poor Condition”

(Washington, DC)  —  The annual report from the American Road and Transportation Builders Association finds more than 12-hundred Wisconsin bridges are in poor condition and double that many need some repair work.  Fixing all the bridges would cost about two-point-six-billion dollars.  Wisconsin is ranked 24th among the 50 stations in the percentage of its bridges which are structurally deficient.  Iowa has the biggest problem with aging and deteriorating bridges.  Nevada and the District of Columbia have the best bridge systems.

 

>>Hundreds Of Wisconsin School Register For Voucher Programs

(Madison, WI)  —  The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction reports more than 380 private and religious schools in the state want to participate in voucher programs.  They have all registered for the 2018-2019 school year.  More than one-third of those schools — 133 — want to take part in the voucher program in Milwaukee.  That’s a gain of eight schools over this current school year.  Forty-eight new schools have registered for the statewide voucher program.  Students who qualify at schools in the voucher programs can have their tuition expenses covered by state subsidies.

 

>>DNR Holds Public Hearing Next Month On Water For Foxconn Plant

(Madison, WI)  —  The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources will hear from the public on plans to divert seven-million gallons of water to the incoming Foxconn plant every day.  The city of Racine has applied for the water supply from Lake Michigan.  It would be the pass-through to Mount Pleasant, where the huge flat-screen manufacturing facility will be built.  The March 7th public hearing will be held in Sturtevant.  The D-N-R is taking public comments through March 21st online.
