Utility Shut Off Moratorium Ending

The moratorium that keeps utility companies in Wisconsin from shutting off the connections of customers who are behind on their bills ends on Sunday (April 15th). Utility companies recommend that you contact them and work to set up a payment plan to avoid having the utilities shut off. They say they would rather work with people than have to shut off their electric and gas. You may qualify for energy assistance through the Wisconsin Home Energy Assistance Program or WHEAP. There’s no charge to apply for assistance, which is based on income. To apply call: 866-432-8947 or visit the website home energy plus-dot-wis-dot-gov (www.homeenergyplus.wi.gov).
