Speed and Alcohol Possible Factors in Rollover Accident
Speed and alcohol are considered to be factors in a crash that left one injured Monday night in Monroe County. At about 10:20pm, the Monroe County 911 Center received a call of a one vehicle roll over with entrapment on Highway 33 in the town of Portland. The driver, 23-year-old Timothy D. Morford of Manhattan Kansas, was found to be unconscious in the vehicle. Officials say Morford was west bound on Highway 33 when he failed to negotiate the corner and went off the road. His vehicle then rolled several times before striking a power pole, coming to rest on its side. Morford was extricated with the help of the Jaws of Life, and was transported by Tri-state ambulance service to Gundersen Hospital. The crash remains under investigation by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department.
