Royall School Board Approves Capital Improvement Projects
The Royall School Board approved several capital improvement projects at its meeting on Monday. The board approved new lockers for the middle school, intermediate school, and high school in an amount not to exceed $68,113 and new athletic lockers for the boys’ locker room in an amount not to exceed $20,000. Superintendent Mark Gruen said they have an anonymous donation of $5,000, and a commitment from the Booster Club and a request in to the Lions’ Club to cover the leftover costs for the athletic lockers. The board also approved purchasing a boom lift in an amount not to exceed $10,000. Gruen said the lift the district has currently doesn’t reach the walls in the matter that is the safest at times. They actually believe that the amount won’t be that much after the trade in, and after one year of renting it out, it would pay for itself. Members also approved cement work around the concession stand, which will cost around $8,000. Gruen said the roofing company will pay for it because they damaged it when they brought in their heavy equipment. The cement around the concession stand is heaving, and if they don’t fix it now, it would cost more. Next, the board approved the replacement of an elementary school door in amount not to exceed $7,500. Director of Building and Grounds Tim Marshall said it’s the second most used door, and it is rusting out on the bottom. The board then voted to move forward on obtaining quotes for a drainage project by the intermediate/middle school.
