New Juneau County Judge Expected to Start Ahead Of Schedule

Newly elected Juneau County Judge Stacy Smith could be starting his job soon.  Normally Smith would not take over until August but with only one current judge in the two judge county, Governor Walker is expected to appoint Smith to the currently open spot ahead of schedule.  Smith said he has received a call saying he is expected to start early but no schedule has been set.  Smith will receive training through Judicial College and job shadowing before presiding over any case.  Smith also must make a transition out of the Vernon County District Attorney’s office.  Stacy Smith defeated Scott Southworth in last week’s spring election.
