Kendall Man Honored by Rep. Brooks on 100th Birthday
Rep. Brooks’ staffer, Kate Heitman, presented the citation to Robert Michel on his 100th Birthday December 9, 2017.
A Kendall man and World War II veteran celebrated his 100th birthday last Saturday. Robert “Bob” Michel was born on December 9, 1917 in Stanley, WI. He grew up in Cazenovia, WI and during the Great Depression he worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps. In 1941, he enlisted in the Army and served overseas. In 1945, he married Gwendolyn Long and they purchased a farm in rural Kendall, WI where they raised dairy and beef cattle. They were married more than 70 years. Rep. Ed Brooks authored a Citation by the Wisconsin State Assembly, with concurrence from State Senator Howard Marklein, and was presented to Michel December 9.
