There were only minor injuries in a two vehicle crash Sunday afternoon north of Hillsboro. Vernon County Sheriff John B. Spears said the accident occurred at the intersection of Highway 80 and County Road WW. 40-year-old Leonard J. Leis of Kendall was southbound, operating an empty quad-axle milk truck. The Department of Workforce Development released the U.S Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates of unemployment and employment statistics Wednesday. Preliminary July 2017 rates decreased or remained the same in all 72 counties when compared over the year to July 2016 rates.  Adams County’s unemployment rate in July was 4.6 percent, Juneau County’s was 3.2 percent, Monroe County’s was 3.1 percent, Vernon County’s was 2.8 percent and Sauk County’s unemployment rate was 2.6 percent.
