Cashton Man Taken Into Custody After Hit-and-Run Incident

Cashton man was taken into custody after a hit-and-run incident in Monroe County Tuesday afternoon. The Monroe County Communications Center received a call about a two-vehicle crash on Highway 27. The caller, 48-year-old Carrie Flock of rural Sparta, was south bound on Highway 27 when she slowed to make a right turn into a driveway and was struck from behind by a white van. The driver van then fled the scene heading south. A DNR Warden in the area heard the call, and observed the van traveling at a high rate of speed from the area of the scene. Alcohol Believed to be Factor in Single Vehicle Crash

Alcohol is believed to be a factor in a single vehicle crash Saturday morning. Monroe County Sheriff Scott Perkins said officials received a call about a crash with damage to the guardrail on Highway 33 in the Town of Sheldon. When officers arrived, they found that the guard rail had been damaged extensively and the driver had fled the scene in the vehicle.  Through an investigation, officers were able to locate the driver, 19-year-old Thomas Ray Peterson of rural Ontario, and the truck he had been driving. Wonderful Turnout For Mauston Community Sharing Food Pantry at Holiday Train

It was another successful night for the Mauston Community Sharing Food Pantry on Monday evening. As the Canadian Pacific Holiday Train rolled into town, it was a record turnout as the pantry took in 1,092 pounds of food and an estimated 2,000 people attending. Pantry Director Kathy Green said they received almost $2700 in donations, the most they received in a single evening. Then the Canadian Pacific Railroad gave a check of $4,500 for the food pantry. In addition, the First Weber Foundation offered to match donations up to $3,500, doubling the donations.
