Brewers Drop To Second After Bullpen Falters At DC
(Washington, DC) — The Milwaukee Brewers have fallen to second place in the National League Central after losing at Washington 8-5. The Brewers blew a 2-1 lead in the eighth inning when the Nationals scored seven runs and Ryan Zimmerman had the game winning hit with a two run double, while Bryce Harper was ejected in the eighth for arguing a strike call. It’s the first time since May 26th that the Brewers have not held at least a share of the Central lead, and they’re now one half game behind the Chicago Cubs. Jacob Barnes took the loss, falling to 3-2 after Brewers’ starter Jimmy Nelson struck out ten in seven innings. Domingo Santana hit a 476 foot homer in the first inning, the longest at Nationals Park since 2015 and Lewis Brinson hit his first big league homer for the Crew, which closes out its three game set at Washington Thursday.
