Incident of Burglary and Criminal Damage to Property in Town of Lyndon

There was an incident of burglary and criminal damage to property in the Town of Lyndon. Sometime between October 7th and October 17th, an unknown person or persons forcibly entered a camping trailer at River Bay Campground on River Bay Road. Police say it appeared that someone forced entry by breaking the glass and entered the window by the front door and the left through the front door. Mauston School Board Approves 2018 Tax Levy and 2017-2018 Budget

The Mauston School Board approved the annual budget for the 2017-2018 school year at a special meeting on Monday night. The board also approved the tax levy at about $7,366,803, making the mil rate $10.49 per $1,000. That’s down 67 cents from last year’s mil rate, which was $11.16 per $1,000. Business Manager Julie Lankey-Smallwood said the total tax levy decreased by $75,112 from last year, a 1.01 percent decrease. No Injuries in Single Vehicle Accident in Vernon County

No injuries in an accident where a truck struck a utility pole Monday evening. Vernon County Sheriff John Spears said 20-year-old Brandon Aardahl of rural LaFarge was traveling south on County Road D in the Town of Stark when he lost control of his truck. Aardahl crossed the centerline going off of the road and first striking a traffic post before striking a utility pole. The truck came to rest in the ditch and live wires were exposed across the road. Spears said Aardahl was wearing his seatbelt. Assisting the Sheriff’s Office was the LaFarge Fire Dept, and the Richland Electric Cooperative. The crash remains under investigation by the Vernon County
